ABIM Celebrates ANC's Centenary

On behalf of Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (ABIM), it is a great pleasure to convey a warm congratulatory message on the occasion of  the ANC Centenary which was held at the birth place of the ANC in Bloemfontein. We are very fortunate and proud that our Prime Minister attended this occasion representing 28 million Malaysians  to show our solidarity and commitment towards our long standing good relationship between Malaysia and South Africa since the fight for freedom and the struggle against Apartheid.

The heroic struggle by the South African led by charismatic leader Nelson Mandela should be always remembered especially by the young generation in South Africa. Indeed, this lesson of in the 'Long Walk to Freedom' should inspire all young people around the globe including Malaysia to appreciate  priceless freedom and the journey of a selfless fighter.

We agree with the exceptional speech made by Jacob Zuma when he describes this as the right moment to pause and ponder the future of South Africa into the next century. What happened in the past remains  a precious lesson for the present and what is more crucial is to continue the struggle to bring changes for the better in South Africa. This reminds us of Mandela's wise reflection whereby he said "After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb."

As a civil society movement, we offer our heartfelt congratulations for this historic centenary and extend our sincere friendship especially with South African youth and members of the ANC.

We are looking forward towards  meaningful cooperation   in the future.

JUFITRI JOHA
Vice President International
